Passengers travelling on replacement bus services for the Inner West Light Rail will receive a 50 per cent discount on their fares.
A refund will automatically be applied to ensure customers are compensated for the inconvenience of catching a replacement service.
The system will take some time to get up and running but is expected to be in operation within a fortnight. Refunds for those services to Monday 8 November will be backdated.
Transport for NSW is also looking at other ways to supplement the replacement bus services, including shuttles to heavy rail and reinstating Blackwattle Bay ferry services.
Buses will continue to replace light rail services on the L1 Dulwich Hill Line after cracking was identified on the bogie box on all 12 light rail vehicles.
Two new replacement bus services, the 498 and 499, are operating along the light rail route between Dulwich Hill and Central.
Replacement buses run at the following frequency daily, subject to road traffic:
6am to 7am – 12 to 20 minute frequency
7am to 9.30am – 10 to 15 minute frequency
9.30am to 11pm (midnight on Friday) – 12 to 20 minute frequency
