Kensington Pond Footbridge, Centennial Park

What we’re doing in Centennial Park

We are working with Centennial Parklands to construct a new pedestrian footbridge over Kensington Pond to connect Centennial Park with the CBD and South East Light Rail along Alison Road, Randwick. The project is expected to start in April 2020 and is expected to be completed by November 2020, weather permitting.

Work we will be doing includes:

  • Construction of a temporary access way
  • Construction of our piling platform
  • Piling works for the footbridge
  • Installation of the footbridge superstructure
  • Installation of the decking, architectural balustrade and handrail

This work will require the use of an excavator, tip trucks, bobcat, roller, site fencing, hiab-crane trucks and hand tools.

Location of the works

Construction of work will take place in Centennial Park along the western bank of Kensington Pond.

How will these works affect you?

Some of this work will be noisy. All work is to be held during standard hours and vehicles will be switched off when not in use. Any dust generating activities will be watered down.

Access

There will be minor footpath closures within the parklands on the northern side of Kensington Pond footbridge. Pedestrians should refer to localised directional signage.

There will be no impact to the shared path along Alison Road. Access to the parklands from Alison Road remains via the gates on Darley Road.
