Transport for NSW is launching a new trial that allows drivers to pre-book parking spaces at Park&Ride Ashfield before they connect to public transport.
Commuters who use their Opal card will be able to secure parking in advance from 9 February.
“We know car parks can fill up quickly during the morning peak and this new parking system will provide peace of mind for drivers who know they can pre-book a space at a time that suits them,” a Transport for NSW spokesperson said.
“Catching public transport and supporting customers in their first and last mile has never been easier. This is all about making parking as convenient and hassle free as possible for those wanting to connect from their car to the transport network.”
Drivers will use the booking system within the Park&Ride Pre-booked App and they can pay as little as $10 a day to book and guarantee a spot. They can stay for up to 18 hours when they use their Opal card to catch public transport.
Customers will enter the car park and proceed to the pre-booked area boom gates which use license plate recognition to identify the booking.
When exiting the carpark, drivers will verify they’ve taken public transport by tapping their Opal card at the pre-booked exit boom gate otherwise additional rates and fees will apply.
