Northern Beaches Hospital road upgrade

The new Northern Beaches Hospital at Frenchs Forest opened on 30 October 2018. Major construction continues to upgrade the roads around the new Northern Beaches Hospital to provide increased capacity and improved access through the area, including for pedestrians and cyclists.

Upcoming changes

Hilmer Street bridge

Roads and Maritime Services has completed a new bridge at Hilmer Street to go over the future Warringah Road underpass as part of the Northern Beaches Hospital road upgrade. The bridge will open to traffic at 8am on Sunday 10 March.

The Hilmer Street bridge provides access for motorists into and from Warringah Road and from the Northern Beaches Hospital over the future underpass:

  • turning right into and out of Hilmer Street
  • turning right out of the Northern Beaches Hospital

There is no access for motorists to or from the underpass at Hilmer Street. There is also no access for motorists or pedestrians to or from the hospital via the Hilmer Street bridge.

Motorists are reminded that the hospital’s main entrance is on Frenchs Forest Road West.
