During January 2021 Transport for NSW carried out once in a generation maintenance work on the railway tracks on the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Maintenance work took place on the bridge for 10 days from 6am, Friday 1 January until 2am, Monday 11 January 2021.
Trains on the T1 North Shore & Western Line continued to travel to and from North Sydney as well as to and from Wynyard Station, but did not cross the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Milsons Point Station was closed during this time.
Customers travelling on the train network were reminded to plan their travel ahead of time, with T1 North Shore & Western Line services replaced by buses between the CBD and North Sydney.
Four high frequency bus routes operated between North Sydney and the CBD while the rail line on the Sydney Harbour Bridge is closed.
These high Frequency Routes include:
- North Sydney to Wynyard via Pacific Highway
- North Sydney, Milsons Point to Wynyard via Pacific Highway
- North Sydney to Town Hall via Miller Street
- North Sydney to Circular Quay via Miller Street
Buses traveled between North Sydney and a number of destinations in the CBD: Wynyard, Circular Quay and Town Hall, with a service also travelling from North Sydney to Wynyard via Milsons Point.
