Plan ahead this Australia Day weekend

Passengers are encouraged to plan ahead this Australia Day weekend, 27-28 January, as essential Rail Repair Plan trackwork targets key sections of the network to improve resilience and reliability.

For those travelling on Saturday night, passengers are urged to allow more travel time with trains not running on the City Circle, or between Wynyard and Central overnight from 10pm Saturday to 10am Sunday.

For travel around the City passengers can catch the light rail between Central and Circular Quay or use local bus services.

Trains will also replace buses between Strathfield and Central from 10pm Saturday to 10am Sunday on the T1 Western, T2 Inner West and T9 Northern Line.

On both Saturday and Sunday, buses replace trains on the T2 Inner West & Leppington and T5 Cumberland lines between Cabramatta and Granville.

On Saturday from 2am to 9.30am on the T3 Bankstown Line, buses replace trains between Bankstown and Sydenham.

From 10pm Saturday to 10am Sunday, the T3 Bankstown and T8 Airport & South Line trains will start and end at Central.

Sydney Trains will have around 632 workers undertaking a significant amount of work to remove defects on the network.

Some trains may run to changed stopping pattern and timetable. Passengers may need to change trains and are encouraged to allow extra travel time and plan ahead by visiting transport.nsw.info or using trip planning apps.

Sydney Trains thanks our passengers for their patience as we work to build a more resilient and reliable network.

From 10pm on Saturday to 10am Sunday, buses will replace trains between Strathfield and Central on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line.
