Plan ahead for Weekend Rail Repair Plan trackwork
Passengers are urged to plan ahead this weekend, 13-14 January, as essential Rail Repair Plan trackwork targets key sections of the network to improve resilience and reliability.
From 10.30pm Friday and all weekend, buses replace trains between North Sydney and Wynyard on the T1 North Shore Line.
On Saturday from 10.50pm to 5am, buses replace all trains between Strathfield and Central on the T1 Western Line.
From 10.30pm Friday buses also replace trains on the T2 Inner West Line between Strathfield and Ashfield.
On Saturday and Sunday buses replace T2 Inner West Line trains between Strathfield and Central. Buses will replace all trains between Strathfield and Central from 10.50pm Saturday to 5am Sunday.
Buses will replace all trains between Strathfield and Central on the T9 Northern Line on Saturday from 10.50pm to 5am.
On the T3 Bankstown Line, buses replace trains between Cabramatta, Lidcombe and Sydenham from 9.40pm Friday through to Sunday.
Trackwork continues on parts of the T3 Bankstown Line until 25 January.
Passengers should also be aware that on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 January City Circle trains run in one direction only, from Central with the first stop being Town Hall. As an alternative travel option passengers can use the light rail which runs in both directions between Circular Quay and Central.
Sydney Trains will have around 801 workers undertaking a significant amount of work to remove around 66 high-priority defects.
Some trains may run to changed stopping pattern and timetable. Passengers may need to change trains and are encouraged to allow extra travel time and plan ahead by visiting transportnsw.info or using trip planning apps.

Intercity Services
On Saturday 13 January on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line buses replace all trains between Strathfield and Central from 11pm to 5am.
On the Blue Mountains Line buses will replace trains between Blacktown and Central from 11.20pm Saturday to 5am Sunday.
