Works across Sydney’s road and transport network - From 24 May
Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions across Greater Sydney for maintenance and project works.
Sydney Harbour Bridge
Up to 5 lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge deck will close for maintenance and upgrade works from Monday:
- Monday 27 May: 10pm – 4:30am
- Tuesday 28 May: 10pm – 4:30am
- Wednesday 29 May: 10pm – 4:30am
- Thursday 30 May: 10.30pm – 4:30am
In addition, one lane will be closed for VIVID tonight, Friday May 24, from 5.30-6.30pm.
Motorists can use other lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge or drive through the Sydney Harbour Tunnel as an alternative route during these times.
Sydney Harbour Tunnel
Both southbound lanes in the Sydney Harbour Tunnel will be closed on Sunday 26 May from 12am-7am for Warringah Freeway-related works.
Motorists can use the Sydney Harbour Bridge as an alternative route during these times.
Warringah Freeway
Motorists are advised to plan ahead and expect delays, with changed traffic conditions on the Warringah Freeway from 10pm on Friday 24 May to 4:30am on Monday 27 May.
The work will include the full closure of the Warringah Freeway southbound from the Pacific Hwy, Artarmon to Mount St, North Sydney from 12am – 7am on Sunday 26 May.
The Sydney Harbour Tunnel southbound will also be closed during this time, as well as multiple on-ramps along the Warringah Freeway, with detours via the Pacific Highway. Motorists heading east towards Cammeray, Cremorne, Balgowlah, Manly and Mosman must use Pacific Highway and Falcon Street. A map of the detours can be found here.
The Alfred Street southbound off-ramp with be closed from 10pm Friday 24 May - 4.30am Monday 27 May.
The Sydney Harbour Bridge will remain open in both directions all weekend. All southbound motorists heading towards the Sydney Harbour Bridge must use Pacific Highway, Berry Street, Arthur Street and then the onramp from Mount Street to the bridge.
Motorists driving southbound towards Sydney Airport from areas north of the Sydney Harbour Bridge or Sydney Harbour Tunnel early on Sunday morning are advised to allow plenty of extra travel time or consider catching public transport.
Please note, no Falcon Street off-ramp southbound tolls will be charged from 10pm Friday to 5am Monday.

Essential trackwork
Passengers are urged to plan ahead this weekend, 25-26 May, as essential Rail Repair Plan trackwork continues to build a more resilient and reliable network.
Buses will replace trains due to planned trackwork on key sections of the T2 Inner West & Leppington Line and T5 Cumberland lines, as well as intercity services on the South Coast line.
Travel into the city for VIVID Sydney will not be heavily impacted by trackwork with an additional 400 train services on offer over the duration of the event. On Saturday May 25, Sydney Trains services will not drop off passengers at Circular Quay Station – use Wynyard, Martin Place or St James stations instead.
Light Rail
Tonight (Friday May 24) from 6pm to 1am and on Saturday May 25 and Sunday May 26 from 5pm to 1am, L2 and L3 light rail services will not run between Town Hall and Circular Quay due to Vivid.
Light rail services will continue to run between Town Hall and Randwick or Juniors Kingsford during these times. Passengers travelling to Circular Quay should continue on foot from Town Hall or change for trains.
