Works across Sydney’s road and transport network from Friday 5 July

Motorists are urged to plan ahead with changed traffic conditions across Greater Sydney for maintenance and project works.

Sydney Harbour Bridge

Up to five lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge deck will close for maintenance and upgrade works from tonight:

  • Friday 5 July: 10pm – 6am (up to four lanes)
  • Saturday 6 July: 11pm – 6am (two lanes)
  • Sunday 7 July: 10pm – 4.30am (up to five lanes)
  • Monday 8 July: 10pm – 4.30am (five lanes)
  • Tuesday 9 July: 10pm – 4.30am (five lanes)
  • Wednesday 10 July: 10pm – 4.30am (five lanes)
  • Thursday 11 July: 10.30pm – 4.30am (up to five lanes)

Motorists can use other lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge or drive through the Sydney Harbour Tunnel as an alternative route.

 

Sydney Harbour Tunnel

Works on the Warringah Freeway Upgrade will result in one northbound lane of the Sydney Harbour Tunnel being closed at the following times:

  • Tonight, Friday 5 July, from 11.30pm – 6am.
  • Monday 8 July, from 11pm – 6am.

 

Warringah Freeway Upgrade

Motorists are advised of various night-time key traffic changes on the Warringah Freeway, occurring this weekend:

  • From 10pm Friday 5 July to 6am Saturday 6 July
  • From 8pm Saturday 6 July to 8am Sunday 7 July
  • From 8pm Sunday 7 July to 4.30am Monday 8 July

Key closures in place will include:

Miller Street southbound on ramp

The Miller Street southbound on ramp is being shifted to the left (east) and will include a new intersection mid-way along the ramp. During the temporary closure alternative access will be available via Ernest Street.

Alfred Street North southbound off ramp

The Alfred Street North southbound off ramp to North Sydney and Kirribilli will also be temporarily closed. Motorists are advised to use Pacific Highway or the Military Road off ramp to avoid being forced to travel over the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Warringah Freeway southbound access to the Cahill Expressway will be closed. Access to the Sydney Harbour Tunnel and Sydney Harbour Bridge will be maintained.

 

Western Distributor

Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions this weekend.

On Sunday 7 July and on Monday 8 July from 9pm – 5am:

The Western Distributor will be closed in both directions from Sydney Harbour Bridge to Bathurst Street.

Motorists travelling northbound from Anzac Bridge towards the Sydney Harbour Bridge will be detoured via King Street and Clarence Street.

Motorists travelling northbound from City South towards the Sydney Harbour Bridge will be detoured via Day Street, Bathurst Street and Kent Street.

Motorists travelling southbound from Sydney Harbour Bridge towards Anzac Bridge will be detoured via York Street and Market Street. Details of all detours can be found here.

On Tuesday 9 July from 9pm – 5am:  

Pyrmont Bridge Road on-ramp and Bank Street on-ramp – westbound towards Anzac Bridge will be closed. Motorists will be detoured via Bridge Road, Ross Street, Minogue Crescent and The Crescent. Details of the detours can be found here.

Essential trackwork

Passengers are urged to plan ahead this weekend, 6-7 July, as buses will replace trains due to planned trackwork on key sections of the T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line. Buses will also replace trains due to planned trackwork on intercity services on the South Coast Line.

Light Rail

L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services will be impacted by closures due to major trackwork and maintenance work.

On Saturday 6 July and Sunday 7 July, L1 services will not run. From Monday 8 July to Saturday 13 July, L1 services will resume between Convention and Dulwich Hill.

Buses replace light rail services during this period between Central Grand Concourse and Dulwich Hill.
