Travel advice across Sydney this weekend - From 11 April
Motorists and passengers are being advised of a range of road and rail impacts across Sydney this weekend due to trackwork, ongoing project works, and major events.
Sydney Harbour Bridge
Up to five lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge deck will close for maintenance and upgrade works from tonight:
- Friday 11 April: 9.30pm – 6am (up to four lanes)
- Saturday 12 April: 5am– 11.59pm (lane 4 reversible)
- Sunday 13 April: 12am– 11.59pm (lane 4 reversible)
- Monday 14 April: 9pm - 5am (up to five lanes)
- Tuesday 15 April: 9pm – 5am (up to five lanes)
- Wednesday 16 April: 9pm – 5am (three lanes)
- Thursday 17 April: 9.30pm – 5am (two lanes)
During the closures above, motorists can use other lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge or drive through the Sydney Harbour Tunnel as an alternative route, noting tunnel lane closures below.
Sydney Harbour Tunnel
- Friday 11 April: 11pm – 5am (both northbound lanes)
- Saturday 12 April: 10pm– 6am (both southbound lanes)
- Sunday 13 April: 10pm– 5am (both southbound lanes)
- Tuesday 15 April: 11.30pm – 5am (one northbound) and 10pm – 5am (one southbound lane)
- Wednesday 16 April: 11pm – 5am (both northbound lanes) 10pm – 5am (one southbound lane)
- Thursday 17 April: 10.30pm – 5am (one southbound lane)
Heathcote Road
Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on Heathcote Road due to emergency works. Heathcote Road will be closed between the Princes Highway and New Illawarra Road:
- 8pm to 5am each night from Saturday 12 to Wednesday 16 April
- Continuously from 8pm Thursday 17 April to 5am Monday 28 April with partial openings to accommodate peak holiday traffic periods

Warringah Freeway Upgrade
Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on the Warringah Freeway.
- Miller Street southbound on ramp is closed from 10pm Friday 11 April to 5am Monday 14 April. Detour via Falcon Street southbound on ramp.
- Mount Street southbound (eastern) on ramp to the Cahill Expressway is closed from 9.30pm Friday 11 April to 9.30pm Saturday 12 April. Detour via Mount Street western on ramp to the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
- Northbound inner carriageway is closed from 5am Saturday 12 April to 5am Monday 14 April. Please use northbound outer lanes.
Ongoing traffic changes include: Miller Street southbound on ramp will continue to be closed from 10am to 6pm weekdays until early May. Motorists are advised to use either the Ernest Street or the Falcon Street on ramp as an alternative. The Miller Street on ramp may also be closed on some nights and weekends. Motorists should check signage.
Western Distributor
Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on the Western Distributor on Wednesday, 16 April. Between 9pm and 5am, the Kent Street northbound off-ramp will be closed. Motorists will be detoured via Kent Street, Margaret Street, and Clarence Street for access to the Western Distributor and Sydney Harbour Bridge. For detours see the Western Distributor Detour Map.
M6 Stage 1
Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions and lane closures on President Avenue in Kogarah from 8pm Friday 11 April to 8pm Saturday 12 April. For more info: M6 Stage 1 – weekend work on President Avenue
M4 Motorway
Motorists are advised of ramp works to/from Mulgoa Road to the M4. There will be night closures on Monday 14 April, weather permitting.
M7 Motorway
Motorists are advised of a single northbound lane closure on the M7 between Kurrajong Road and Bernera Road from 8pm Thursday 17 April to 3am Saturday 19 April, due to upgrade works.

Essential Trackwork
- South Coast Line – Buses replace trains between Bomaderry and Wollongong on Saturday and Sunday.Trains run between Port Kembla, Wollongong and Bondi Junction. Saturday 5.40am to 8am, trains run between South Coast Line stations and Central only.
- T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line – Saturday 5am to 9am, trains run between Liverpool and Lidcombe only. Inner West trains run between Homebush and the City.
- T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line – Saturday5.40am to 8am, trains run between Cronulla, Waterfall and the City Circle, and between Central and Bondi Junction only.
- Southern Highlands Line – Saturday 4.40am to 4.50pm, buses replace trains between Goulburn, Moss Vale and Campbelltown. T8 Airport & South Line trains run between Campbelltown and the City via the Airport.
Trackwork on other lines may affect how you travel. Trains may run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. Passengers may need to change trains to complete their journey and are encouraged to allow extra travel time and plan ahead by visiting transportnsw.info/alerts or using trip planning apps.
Sydney Metro
Metro services between Macquarie University and Cherrybrook will stop operating earlier than usual on Sunday 13 for maintenance work. From 9pm, the metro will run between Tallawong and Cherrybrook, and Macquarie University and Sydenham only. Passengers wanting to travel between Macquarie University and Cherrybrook during this time should check their transport apps for alternative travel options.
Light Rail
L1 Dulwich Hill, L2 Randwick, L3 Kingsford - services will not run on the L1 between Central Grand Concourse and Dulwich Hill, and on the L2 and L3 lines between Circular Quay and Central Chalmers Street on Monday 14, Tuesday 15, and Wednesday 16 April, from 8pm each night. Buses replace L1 services between Central Chalmers Street and Dulwich Hill during these weeknight closures. For travel around the City passengers can use metro, trains or local bus services.
Buses replace L2 and L3 services between Central Chalmers Street and Moore Park, on Tuesday 15 April from 10.30pm,

Major Events
Sydney Royal Easter Show, 11-22 April: The Easter Show has opened its gates and hundreds of thousands of people are expected to visit Olympic Park over the next 12 days. Tickets to the Easter Show include travel on public transport with plenty of extra trains and major event buses running each day. Nike After Dark Tour Sydney: Up to 7,500 participants are expected to take part in the new Nike After Dark half marathon event this Saturday. The course is mostly off road using existing footpaths and walkways, starting from Rozelle Parklands at 4.30pm, travelling around White Bay, Glebe, Pyrmont to finish at Tumbalong Park in Darling Harbour. Participants are encouraged to catch public transport as there is no parking around the start line. Buses run regularly to Rozelle Parklands stopping on Victoria Rd. L1 Dulwich Hill light rail services also run regularly to Rozelle Bay light rail stop which is a short walk across to the park via the Green Link Bridge. Closures will be in place on part of Bridge Rd in Glebe, Pirrama Rd and Bank St in Pyrmont and local roads in Forest Lodge at the Tramsheds precinct. Visit livetraffic.com for more details.
