Sydney Gateway

Sydney Gateway opened to motorists on 1 September 2024, providing a new connection from Sydney’s motorway network to the Sydney Airport precinct. No additional tolls apply to use the new connection.

Below are the routes that have changed now that Sydney Gateway is complete. Select your journey to learn more about the changes.

Some journeys to Sydney Airport will remain the same, however, you may notice new connections and lane changes around the airport precinct. Stay alert and follow signs. The journeys that will remain the same are:

  • From North Shore & Northern Beaches via the Eastern Distributor
  • From Eastern Suburbs via Gardeners Road, Wentworth Avenue or Foreshore Rd
  • From South Sydney via Princes Highway or General Holmes Drive

Allow extra journey time

The Airport Precinct may be busier than usual as drivers adapt to changes in the area. The airport may also continue to experience delays during peak travel periods. Please allow extra time, use driver navigation apps to assist you on your journey, and pay attention to new signs along the way.

Before you leave home:

  • Check the Sydney Airport website for the latest updates on flight status, parking availability, and potential delays in the airport precinct.
  • Check Live Traffic NSW for the latest updates on road incidents and traffic delays.
