Changed traffic conditions on Pacific Highway and Walker Street at North Sydney

Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on the Pacific Highway and Walker Street in North Sydney from Friday, as work progresses on the Warringah Freeway Upgrade.

From 10pm Friday 21 July, the right turn into Walker Street from the Pacific Highway northbound off ramp will be permanently closed.

A Transport for NSW spokesperson said the change is part of the vital Warringah Freeway Upgrade.

“This permanent traffic change will improve traffic flow and safety on the Pacific Highway at the Blue Street and Walker Street intersection,” the spokesperson said.

“The right turn access into Walker Street will be maintained for motorists travelling westbound on High Street.

“Vehicles on the Pacific Highway northbound off ramp can use either Pacific Highway, Miller Street and Berry Street, or Arthur Street and Mount Street, to access Walker Street.”

A new temporary work area will also be established on the Pacific Highway northbound off-ramp to support construction of the new shared pedestrian and cyclist path, the new High Street northbound on ramp and to realign traffic lanes in this area. A temporary 40km/h speed limit will be in place for the safety of motorists and workers.

Motorists are advised to plan ahead, allow extra travel time and use extra caution while adjusting to your new access route.
