Light rail disruption from 7-11 July

Customers are advised to plan ahead, with L1, L2 and L3 light rail services disrupted from Friday 7 to Tuesday 11 July due to track and maintenance works.

LIGHT RAIL IMPACTS:

L1 Dulwich Hill Line:

  • From 6am Friday 7 to 11pm Monday 10 July, no L1 Dulwich Hill light rail services will run between Central Grand Concourse and Convention stops.
  • L1 replacement bus services will run between Central Grand Concourse and The Star via Convention. Please note buses will not run from Exhibition towards Convention and Pyrmont Bay.
  • L1 light rail services will continue to run between Convention and Dulwich Hill as per normal frequency.
  • Full L1 light rail services between Central Grand Concourse and Dulwich Hill will resume as normal from 6am on Tuesday 11 July. 

L2/L3 City and South East Line:

  • From 5am Friday 7 to 1am Tuesday 11 July, L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford light rail services will not run between Central Chalmers Street and Circular Quay.
  • Passengers are encouraged to use alternative transport including trains or walking.
  • L2 and L3 light rail services will continue to run between Central Chalmers Street and Randwick or Juniors Kingsford as per normal frequency.
  • Full L2 and L3 light rail services between Circular Quay and Randwick or Juniors Kingsford will resume as normal from 5am Tuesday 11 July.

The disruption is due to phase three of maintenance works on the Eddy Avenue Light Rail Underbridge, as well as light rail maintenance work and City of Sydney works on George St between Hunter St and Essex St.

Transport for NSW A/Chief Operations Officer, Mark Hutchings says this is the final stage of the Eddy Ave works.

“We thank customers for their patience during these works, which have taken place in several stages to reduce disruption.”

“Phase 3 of the construction and refurbishment will include bridge structure maintenance works, blasting and painting work, installation of hoarding and scaffolding and traffic control” Mr Hutchings said.

Partial westbound lane closures of Eddy Avenue, Lane 1 and the Bus Lane will be in place from 10pm - 5am on consecutive nights for the duration of the work.
