Rail Repair Plan trackwork to focus on T1 Western and Blue Mountains: 2-3 Sept

The Rail Repair Plan trackwork team is turning its attention to Western Sydney this weekend, with a focus on repairing high-priority defects, track resurfacing, track rail grinding and electrical inspections.

Sydney Trains will have around 800 workers and approximately 108 kilometres of track closures with a significant amount of work to be undertaken including the removal of 31 high-priority defects.

On the T1 Western Line from 10:50pm Friday to 2am Saturday, buses will replace trains between Emu Plains and St Marys, plus some late-night trains from Blacktown to Penrith. From 2am Saturday to 2am Monday, buses will replace trains between Emu Plains and Blacktown.

Richmond trains run between Richmond and Olympic Park. Passengers may need to change trains at Parramatta to continue on to the City. On Sunday from 6.30am to 10.30am, Richmond trains run between Richmond and Leppington.

T1 North Shore Line trains will run between Hornsby and Wynyard only all weekend to a changed timetable. T9 Northern Line services will run between Berowra or Hornsby and Central via Strathfield. However, from 7:30pm Saturday to 4:40am Sunday, buses will replace trains between Berowra and Hornsby.

T3 Bankstown Line trains run between Liverpool or Lidcombe and Sydenham only and passengers will have to change trains at Sydenham to continue their journey.

Trains also run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern on the City Circle and the T8 Airport & South Line. Passengers may need to change trains to continue their journey.

Intercity Services

From 10pm Friday, buses replace trains between Bathurst and Blacktown all weekend on the Blue Mountains Line. T1 Western Line trains run between Blacktown and Central to a changed timetable.

On the Central Coast & Newcastle Line, buses replace trains between Wyong and Hornsby from 7:30pm Saturday to 4:40am Sunday.

Metro Services

Nightly from 11pm from Monday 28 to Thursday 31 August, and on Sunday 3 September, the Metro will run to a reduced frequency between Tallawong and Chatswood.

Services may leave from different platforms; customers should check indicator screens before boarding.

Trackwork Next Week

On the T2 Inner West & Leppington Line buses replace Inner West trains between Strathfield and Ashfield on Wednesday from 11pm to 1:30am.

Nightly from 9:50pm to 1:30am Monday 4 to Thursday 7 September, trains on the City Circle will run to a changed timetable and in one direction only. T8 Airport & South Line trains start and end at Central. Passengers may need to change trains to continue their journey. During that same period, T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line and South Coast Line trains will not stop at Wolli Creek, but buses will run between Sydenham, Wolli Creek and Arncliffe.

Buses will continue to replace trains on the Blue Mountains at three stations – Lithgow, Zig Zag and Bell – from 2am Monday 4 September to 2am Saturday 9 September. Trains will continue to run between Mount Victoria and Central, some to a changed timetable.

Bathurst trains will run between Bathurst and Mount Victoria or Central to a changed timetable. Trains will not stop at Lithgow, but they will make an extra stop at Blackheath.

Passengers should allow for extra travel time, plan using transportnsw.info or travel apps, and pay attention to station announcements.
