Sydney Olympic Park to host 100,000 football and music fans on Wednesday 16 August

For the first time in history Australia has made it to the Semi Final of the FIFA Women’s World Cup™. The Matildas will face England in front of a roaring green and gold crowd on Wednesday night kicking off at 8pm.

A combined crowd of nearly 100,000 fans will travel to the Sydney Olympic Park precinct for the FIFA Women’s World Cup™ Semi Final at Stadium Australia and the Luke Combs concert at neighbouring Qudos Bank Arena.

Ticketholders for each event are urged to catch public transport and leave the car at home as significant traffic delays are expected during the already busy evening peak.

Transport for NSW Acting Chief Operations Officer Craig Moran said hundreds of extra, frequent services would be in operation to get fans safely to and from Olympic Park.

“We encourage football fans to continue catching public transport to games – the best thing is your trip is included in your game ticket.

“More than 300 extra services, including express trains and Major Event Buses, will run to Sydney Olympic Park.”

FIFA Women’s World Cup™ match tickets include travel on public transport and plenty of additional services will run to Sydney Olympic Park including express trains and Major Event Buses. Luke Combs fans need to tap on and off services using an Opal card or contactless payment method.

All available car parks in Sydney Olympic Park are sold out on Wednesday 16 August. If you haven't pre-booked a space you will need to catch public transport as there will be no on-site parking available.

If you have pre-booked parking, follow the directions of staff and have your parking ticket ready to show at the car park entry.

Alternatively, consider parking at a nearby train station commuter car park and continuing the trip to Sydney Olympic Park by train as frequent additional services will run.

Make a night of it and avoid the delays by arriving early to enjoy the pre-event atmosphere in the precinct. Local cafes and restaurants will be open throughout the day and night. Fig Grove, adjacent to the stadium, will also be a hub for food stalls and entertainment.

Public Transport

Around 300 additional public transport services have been scheduled for FIFA Women’s World Cup™ Semi Final, including extra trains and buses. Luke Combs fans can take advantage of these extra services when travelling to and from Olympic Park on Wednesday.

Sydney Trains has a strong plan in place to help people get to and from the match or their chosen live broadcast sites, with a total of 183 additional services. That means 1,059 train services in total are running on Wednesday night from 5pm until 1am.

There is no major planned trackwork that will affect fans travelling to and from Sydney Olympic Park by train.

Sydney Olympic Park

  • Frequent express and limited-stop trains will run regularly from Central Station and key Western Line Stations direct to Olympic Park. Stadium Australia is a short walk from the station.
  • Major Event Buses will run on all nine routes to Sydney Olympic Park with services starting from mid-afternoon.
  • Frequent trains and buses will run after the matches conclude, inclusive of extra time and penalties.
  • Pre-booked parking is sold out at all available car parks in Sydney Olympic Park on Wednesday 16 August.
  • Attendees with pre-booked parking should still plan to arrive early and allow extra travel time as heavy traffic is expected on roads during the busy evening peak. Shuttle buses run between car parks and the stadium.
  • Attendees who have not pre-booked parking will need to catch public transport as there will be no on-site parking available.
  • Dedicated pick-up zones for rideshare, taxis and private vehicles will be available.
