Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on the Sydney Harbour Bridge from tonight, 16 June, for maintenance and Warringah Freeway Upgrade works.

Warringah Freeway Upgrade

Motorists are advised of temporary changes to traffic conditions from Falcon Street to the Warringah Freeway in Neutral Bay to enable the construction of a new dedicated citybound bus lane for the Warringah Freeway Upgrade.

From 10pm Friday 16 June the existing westbound bus lane on Falcon Street, between Merlin Street and the Warringah Freeway, will be closed for up to 12 months, while the bus lane on the southbound on-ramp will be closed for up to 18 months.

During the bus lane closure, buses and general traffic will be required to merge to form two lanes. This will impact motorists and buses travelling to the CBD and North Sydney along Military Road and Falcon Street, particularly during the morning peak.

The shared user path on the southern side of Falcon Street between the northbound off-ramp and Merlin Street will also be closed for up to 18 months.

Pedestrians and cyclists can detour an additional 700m around the closure via the Falcon Street shared user bridge, which is estimated to add up to an extra 10 minutes to the pedestrian journey time. However, for a shorter and faster alternative a pedestrian and cyclist detour to North Sydney is available via the Ridge Street shared user bridge.

Sydney Harbour Bridge

Up to four lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge deck will be closed for maintenance and upgrade works from tonight:

  • Friday 16 June – 11pm to 6am
  • Monday 19 June – 10pm to 4.30am
  • Tuesday 20 June – 10pm to 4.30am
  • Wednesday 21 June – 10pm to 4.30am
  • Thursday 22 June – 10.30pm to 4:30am

On Saturday 17 June, one northbound lane on the Sydney Harbour Bridge will be closed from 8.30pm to 10pm for Vivid Sydney events.

Sydney Harbour Tunnel

The Sydney Harbour Tunnel will be closed Southbound on Sunday 18 June from 10.30pm to 5am. Motorists can detour over the Sydney Harbour Bridge during these times.

Mobile works will also be carried out on the tunnel on Tuesday 20, Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22 June from 10:30pm to 4.30am. However, motorists will be able to use the tunnel during these times.
