Parramatta Light Rail

Parramatta Light Rail has opened, marking a new era of public transport in Western Sydney. You can now jump on the Parramatta Light Rail between 5am and 1am, seven days a week. Connect with key locations including the Parramatta CBD, Western Sydney University South, City and Westmead campuses, and the Westmead Health Precinct.

Customers now have access to:

  • 16 new stops with ramp access, hearing loops, network maps and electronic displays indicating when the next service will arrive.
  • Regular services from 5am to 1am, initial services every 9 minutes between 7am and 7pm; every 12 minutes between 5am and 7am; and every 16 minutes between 11pm and 1am.
  • Integrated NSW Opal card ticketing.
  • Modern and comfortable air-conditioned vehicles that can carry up to 400 passengers and include wheelchair spaces and bike racks on board.

By 2026, you could be one of around 28,000 people expected to use the Parramatta Light Rail every day, with an estimated 130,000 people living within walking distance of the 16 light rail stops.

New walking and bike riding path

In addition to Parramatta Light Rail services, many people are already using the new 5.7km shared walking and bike riding path between Carlingford and Parramatta as part of their commute.

Westmead Health Precinct

Parramatta Light Rail now stops at Westmead Hospital and Westmead Children's Hospital.

Running between Carlingford and Westmead, the Light Rail also provides connections to Westmead and Parramatta stations, Parramatta North and CBD.

Western Sydney University

Parramatta Light Rail now stops at Western Sydney University's South, CBD and Westmead campuses.

The closest stop for South Campus is Yallamundi, east of the campus near Victoria Road.

Hop on the light rail for an easier way to get around and enjoy Parramatta's dining, entertainment and retail offerings. It also connects you to Parramatta and Westmead stations, providing access to train, ferry and bus services servicing Greater Sydney.
