Advice for passengers and road users across Sydney this October long weekend
Motorists and passengers are advised of changed traffic and travel conditions across Greater Sydney due to maintenance and project works.
Sydney Harbour Bridge
Up to five lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge deck will close for maintenance and upgrade works from tonight:
- Friday 4 October: 10pm – 8am (up to four lanes)
- Saturday 5 October: 8pm – 8am (up to four lanes)
- Sunday 6 October: 7pm – 9am (up to four lanes)
- Monday 7 October: 8pm – 4.30am (up to three lanes)
- Tuesday 8 October: 9pm – 5am (five lanes)
- Wednesday 9 October: 9pm – 5am (five lanes)
- Thursday 10 October: 9.30pm – 5am (five lanes)
Motorists can use other lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge or drive through the Sydney Harbour Tunnel as an alternative route.
Warringah Freeway Upgrade
Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on the Warringah Freeway this long weekend to allow major construction work between Milsons Point and Cammeray.
Multiple temporary lane and ramp closures will be in place from 10pm Friday 4 October to 4.30am Tuesday 8 October 2024. More information here

Major Events
A capacity crowd of more than 80,000 fans is expected to converge on Accor Stadium at Sydney Olympic Park this Sunday 6 October to back their teams in the NRL and NRLW Grand Finals.
Penrith Panthers will take on Melbourne Storm in the NRL showpiece, while Sydney Roosters will take on Cronulla Sharks in the NRLW grand final, and fans are being urged to use public transport to get to and from the game.

Essential trackwork
- Buses replace trains between Lidcombe and Bankstown until further notice as enabling works continue for the upcoming T6 Line.
- On the T8 Airport & South Line, trains don’t run via Sydenham until 14 October.
- On the South Coast Line, buses replace trains between Port Kembla and Wollongong until Monday 7 October. On Saturday and Monday (but not Sunday), buses replace trains between Bomaderry and Wollongong. On Monday only, buses replace T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line and South Coast Line trains between Central and Bondi Junction.
- On the Southern Highlands Line, trains run between Southern Highlands stations and Campbelltown only.
Trains may run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. Passengers are advised to allow extra travel time and visit transportnsw.info/alerts, use the Trip Planner or trip planning apps to find the best routes during the changes.
