Take a moment to plan ahead before heading out this weekend - From 21 March

Motorists and passengers are advised of changed traffic and travel conditions across Greater Sydney due to maintenance, project works, and major events.

Sydney Harbour Bridge

Up to five lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge deck will close for maintenance and upgrade works from tonight: 

·    Friday 21 March: 9.30pm – 6am (up to five lanes) 

·    Saturday 22 March: 9.30pm – 6am (four lanes)

·    Sunday 23 March: 9pm – 5am (four lanes)

·    Monday 24 March: 9pm - 5am (up to five lanes)

·    Tuesday 25 March: 9pm – 5am (up to five lanes) 

·    Wednesday 26 March: 9pm – 5am (up to five lanes) 

·    Thursday 27 March: 9.30pm – 5am (five lanes)

During the closures above, motorists can use other lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge or drive through the Sydney Harbour Tunnel as an alternative route, noting tunnel closures below.

Sydney Harbour Tunnel

The Sydney Harbour Tunnel will be partially closed at certain times over the next week.

•    Friday 21 March: 11pm – 6am (both northbound lanes) 

During this closure motorists can use available lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge. 

Warringah Freeway Upgrade 

Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on the Warringah Freeway. 

•    Miller Street southbound on ramp is closed continuously from 6am Saturday 22 March to 6pm Sunday 23 March. Detour via Falcon Street southbound on ramp.

Western Distributor

Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on the Western Distributor. 

•    From Sunday 23 March to Wednesday 2 April, between 9pm and 5am, the Harbour Street off-ramp from the Western Distributor southbound will be closed. Motorists will be detoured via the Western Distributor westbound to the Pyrmont Bridge Road off-ramp, Pyrmont Bridge Road, Darling Drive, Pier Street and Harbour Street for access to City South and Darling Harbour. •    From Tuesday 25 March to Thursday 3 April, between 9pm and 5am, the Western Distributor on-ramp under Market Street southbound to the Anzac Bridge westbound will be closed. Motorists will be detoured via Harbour Street, Pier Street, William Henry Street, Wattle Street, Pyrmont Bridge Road, and the Pyrmont Bridge Road on-ramp to the Western Distributor for access to the Anzac Bridge and Western Suburbs. M6 Stage 1

Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on President Avenue in Kogarah this Saturday, 22 March from 7am to 7pm. 

During this time, there will be lane closures and temporary “no stopping” on President Avenue while work continues on installing signage and traffic management equipment as part of the M6 Stage 1 project. Please allow extra time and follow the directions of traffic control.

Essential Trackwork this weekend 

T2 Leppington & Inner West Line, T5 Cumberland and T8 Airport & South Line – Buses replace trains between Macarthur, Glenfield and Fairfield on Saturday and Sunday.  

•    T2 trains run between Leppington and the City via the Airport, and between Fairfield and the City via Granville.  

•    T5 trains run between Schofields and Olympic Park, and between Fairfield and the City via Granville. Passengers should change at Granville to continue their journey. 

•    T8 trains run between Leppington or Revesby and the City via the Airport.  

•    From 9.40pm Saturday to 4am Sunday, buses also replace trains between Leppington and East Hills. Trains run between East Hills and the City. 

T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line – Buses replace trains between Liverpool, Cabramatta and Lidcombe via Regents Park on Saturday and Sunday.

T6 Lidcombe & Bankstown Line – Buses replace trains between Bankstown and Lidcombe on Saturday and Sunday. 

South Coast Line – From 5am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday, buses replace trains between Port Kembla and Wollongong. 

Southern Highlands Line – Friday from 8pm to 2am, buses replace some trains between Moss Vale and Campbelltown.  

-   Saturday and Sunday, buses replace trains between Goulburn, Moss Vale and Glenfield. 

-   From 9.40pm Saturday to 4am Sunday, buses replace trains between Goulburn, Moss Vale and East Hills. 

-  Monday from 3am to 9am, buses replace some trains between Goulburn and Moss Vale, and from Moss Vale to Campbelltown. 

M1 Metro North West & Bankstown Line – Saturday sservices will not run between Central and Sydenham. Services will run between Tallawong and Martin Place and between Martin Place and Central only. Change at Martin Place for Metro services towards Tallawong or Central, or T4 trains to Sydenham.

Trackwork on other lines may also affect how you travel. Trains may run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. Passengers may need to change trains to complete their journey, and are encouraged to allow extra travel time and plan ahead by visiting transportnsw.info/alerts or using trip planning apps.

Major Events 

•    Golden Slipper race day, Rosehill: More than 10,000 people are expected to attend the Golden Slipper Autumn Carnival races at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse tomorrow (Saturday). Travel on public transport is included in race day tickets and extra L4 Parramatta light rail services will run to and from Rosehill to help attendees get there and home again. •    Lakemba Nights during Ramadan: the Lakemba Nights markets are underway each week from Thursday to Sunday until 30 March. Attendees are encouraged to catch public transport as local parking is limited and traffic will be heavy with large crowds expected, particularly on weekends. Roads will be closed in Lakemba including Haldon Street and The Boulevarde between 4pm and 4.30am each Thursday to Sunday during the event. Attendees are reminded that fare-free Southwest Link buses replace trains between Sydenham and Bankstown, running regularly to Lakemba.
