Major Events

Attendees are encouraged to catch public transport as local parking is limited and traffic will be heavy with large crowds expected, particularly on weekends. Roads will be closed in Lakemba including Haldon St and The Boulevarde between 4pm and 4.30am each Thursday to Sunday during the event. Attendees are reminded that fare-free Southwest Link buses replace trains between Sydenham and Bankstown, running regularly to Lakemba. While roads are closed buses will use different stops near Lakemba Station. For more information see the event page.

AFL Sydney Swans opening round: More than 40,000 fans will descend on Moore Park tonight, Friday, to see the Swans play Hawthorn at the SCG, first bounce at 7.40pm.

Race of Champions at Olympic Park: the world of motor sport racing comes to Accor Stadium in Olympic Park tonight and tomorrow, Saturday. With thousands of fans expected each night, motorists should expect delays and allow extra travel time. Fans should catch public transport with travel on all modes included in event tickets. For more information see the event page.

Knotfest & Super Rugby: Moore Park and Centennial Park will be busy tomorrow, Saturday, with the Knotfest music festival being held at Centennial Park from 11am until 10pm and Super Rugby kicking off at Allianz Stadium nearby from 7.35pm. People attending either event are encouraged to catch public transport with travel on all modes included in tickets to the festival and rugby. For more information see the event pages.

Sydney Streets in Pyrmont: City of Sydney’s Sydney Streets event will see sections of Harris Street and Miller Street close from 8am - 11.30pm tomorrow, Saturday. Special event clearways will also be in effect from 7am - 11.30pm. Attendees are encouraged to catch public transport with light rail services running regularly to Pyrmont from Dulwich Hill and Central. Route 389 and 311 buses will be diverting around road closures.
