Plan ahead for weekend trackwork - 20-21 July
Passengers are urged to plan ahead this weekend, 20-21 July, as essential trackwork goes ahead to ensure our train network continues to be resilient and reliable.
From 9pm Saturday to 2am Sunday, buses will replace trains from Strathfield to Central in that direction only.
This will affect passengers heading to the City on the T1 Western, T2 Inner West & Leppington, T9 Northern, Blue Mountains, and Central Coast & Newcastle Lines, as it will require changing to buses either at Strathfield or Ashfield.
On Saturday, from 4am to 11:30am, buses will replace trains on the T4 Illawarra Line between Waterfall and Sutherland.
Sydney Trains will be carrying out regular trackwork, including bridge refurbishment, contact wire renewal, turnout refurbishment, rerailing and track reconditioning.
Regular trackwork is critical for the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the rail network, and will continue over weekends and during school holidays when patronage is reduced.
Intercity
On the South Coast Line, on Saturday from 3am to 11am, buses will replace trains between Dapto, Port Kembla and Sutherland. On Sunday, from 2:30am to 9:50am, buses will replace trains between Bomaderry and Wollongong.
Some trains may run to changed stopping patterns and timetables. Passengers may need to change trains and are encouraged to allow extra travel time and plan ahead by visiting transportnsw.info or using trip planning apps.
Sydney Trains thanks passengers for their patience.
