Sydney Trains back to normal timetable
The Sydney Trains network will run to a normal weekday timetable this week after a series of work bans from the Rail Tram and Bus Union were lifted.
Chief Executive of Sydney Trains, Matt Longland said he was pleased that an agreement had been reached on key issues for the union and that trains would return to a normal operation.
The impacts of protected industrial action caused disruption for passengers on the rail network last week, with services being cancelled at short notice, resulting in longer and less reliable rail travel across Sydney.
“I apologise to commuters who were impacted by the disruption caused by protected industrial action, particularly those who use the T4 and South Coast lines where significant impacts were experienced,” Mr Longland said.
“Over the weekend train services ran fare-free to a normal weekend timetable across all lines on the Sydney Trains network, with additional special event services added for events at Olympic Park.
“I want to thank our operational teams and frontline workers for their work over a busy major event weekend and the union for their support to remove the work bans.”
Transport for NSW and the Rail Tram and Bus Union have agreed to commence an intensive period of bargaining to accelerate the work on a new Enterprise Agreement for Sydney Trains and NSW Trains.
