Works across Sydney’s road and transport network - From 12 July
Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions across Greater Sydney for maintenance and project works.
Sydney Harbour Bridge
Up to five lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge deck will close for maintenance and upgrade works from tonight:
- Friday 12 July: 10.30pm – 6am (up to four lanes)
- Saturday 13 July: 10.30pm – 6am (up to five lanes)
- Sunday 14 July: 10pm – 4.30am (up to four lanes)
- Monday 15 July: 10pm – 4.30am (five lanes)
- Tuesday 16 July: 10pm – 4.30am (five lanes)
- Wednesday 17 July: 10pm – 4.30am (up to five lanes)
- Thursday 18 July: 10.30pm – 4.30am (up to five lanes)
Motorists can use other lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge or drive through the Sydney Harbour Tunnel as an alternative route.
Sydney Harbour Tunnel
Works on the Warringah Freeway Upgrade and scheduled maintenance will result in lane closures in the Sydney Harbour tunnel as follows:
One northbound lane will be closed at the following times:
- Monday 15 July, 11pm – 4.30am.
- Tuesday 16 July, 10.30pm – 5am.
One southbound lane will be closed at the following times:
- Tonight, Friday 12 July, from 10.30pm – 6am.
- Tuesday 16 July, 10pm – 5am.
Western Distributor
Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on the Western Distributor from this Sunday.
On Sunday 14 July, Monday 15 July, Tuesday 16 July and Wednesday 17 July between 9pm and 5am each night, southbound Western Distributor lanes between Market Street and Harbour Street will be closed.
Motorists travelling from Sydney Harbour Bridge to Anzac Bridge will be detoured via Harbour Street, Pier Street, William Henry Street, Wattle Street, Pyrmont Bridge Road and Western Distributor.
Motorists travelling on Market Street to Anzac Bridge will be detoured to the Druitt Street on-ramp via Sussex Street.

M6 Stage 1
Utility and road upgrades will be required on President Avenue in Kogarah between Traynor Avenue and O’Connell Street, from 8pm, Friday 12 July until 5am, Monday 15 July 2024.
President Avenue will also be temporarily closed between West Botany Street and O’Connell Street from 8pm on Saturday 13 July to 5.30am on Sunday 14 July, with detours in place.
Major traffic changes will be in place along President Avenue, with residential access maintained. Motorists should expect delays and allow extra travel time.
M7
Road users are being given advance notice of changed traffic conditions on the M7 Motorway in Cecil Hills across several weekends in July and August 2024.
The M7 Motorway off-ramp to Elizabeth Drive, Cecil Hills, will be closed for bridge foundation works. Ramp closures will take place between 8pm Friday evening and 5am Monday morning over the following weekends:
Friday 26 July to Monday 29 July
Friday 2 August to Monday 5 August
Friday 9 August to Monday 12 August
Detours will be via The Horsley Drive, Wallgrove Road and the M7 Motorway.

Essential trackwork / disruption
Passengers are urged to plan ahead this weekend, 13-14 July, as buses replace trains due to planned trackwork on the T3 Bankstown Line between Lidcombe and Sydenham/Central, and on the T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra and South Coast Lines between Dapto and Sutherland.
Due to ongoing illegal protest activity in the rail corridor in the Hunter, additional buses will provide passengers with more services on the Hunter Line each evening until early morning.
Buses will be on site from 4.30pm every day until trains resume at 7am the following morning. Bus marshals will be stationed at Newcastle Interchange, Maitland and Hamilton. Full details of services can be found here.
Light Rail
L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services will be impacted by closures due to major trackwork and maintenance work.
Today, Friday 12 July and Saturday 13 July, L1 services are only running between Dulwich Hill and Convention. Buses replace light rail services during this period between Central and Convention.
