Works across Sydney’s road and transport network - From 23 August

Sydney Harbour Bridge

Up to five lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge deck will close for maintenance and upgrade works from tonight:

  • Friday 23 August: 10.30pm – 7am (up to five lanes)
  • Saturday 24 August: 11pm – 6am (four lanes)
  • Sunday 25 August: 10pm – 4.30am (up to four lanes)
  • Monday 26 August: 10pm – 4.30am (five lanes)
  • Tuesday 27 August: 10pm – 4.30am (five lanes)
  • Wednesday 28 August: 10pm – 4.30am (five lanes)
  • Thursday 29 August: 10pm – 4.30am (up to five lanes)

Motorists can use other lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge or drive through the Sydney Harbour Tunnel as an alternative route.

Warringah Freeway Upgrade

Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on the Warringah Freeway this weekend.

As part of the next phase of work to build the new Mount Street underpass in North Sydney, motorists and buses will be temporarily diverted onto the new permanent Mount Street bus on-ramp. This traffic change is required to create a work area.

In preparation for this work we will temporarily close the Mount Street access to Alfred Street North, North Sydney, and the Mount Street eastern on-ramp travelling towards Cahill Expressway, from 8pm tonight, Friday 23 August to 6am Saturday 24 August.

Access for general motorists and buses will be maintained via the Mount Street western on-ramp. Motorists are advised to expect delays and allow extra travel time.

Essential trackwork

Passengers are being urged to plan ahead this weekend, 24-25 August, as planned essential trackwork continues to ensure our train network is resilient and reliable.

On Saturday and Sunday on the T3 Bankstown Line, buses will replace trains between Lidcombe and Sydenham. Trains will run between Liverpool and Lidcombe via Regents Park and passengers can change trains at Lidcombe to continue their journey. At Sydenham, they can change to train or metro services.

On the T4 Eastern Suburbs Line, buses will replace trains between Central and Bondi Junction. Trackwork buses do not leave from Martin Place Station. Metro passengers should change at Gadigal, and train passengers should change at Town Hall for express buses from Town Hall to Bondi Junction. Passengers should change at Central for:

  • buses to Kings Cross and Edgecliff
  • trains to T4 Illawarra and South Coast Line stations
  • metro services to Martin Place.

On the Blue Mountains Line, from Monday 26 August to Friday 6 September, annual maintenance means buses will replace weekday trains at three stations – Lithgow, Zig Zag and Bell. Trains will continue to run between Mount Victoria and Central, some to a changed timetable. Bathurst trains will run between Bathurst and Mount Victoria or Central to a changed timetable. Buses replace weekend trains between Bathurst and Parramatta.

Regular trackwork is critical for the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the rail network. Passengers may need to change trains and are encouraged to allow extra travel time and plan ahead by visiting transportnsw.info or using trip planning apps.

Events

Around 5,000 participants will take part in the annual Beach2Beach Charity Fun Run and Festival from Dee Why to Newport on Sunday 25 August. Events start from 8am and will finish at around 1pm at Newport Beach. Changed traffic conditions will be in effect along the course for the safety of participants. For more details click here
