Works across Sydney’s road and transport network - from 27 July
Motorists and passengers are advised of changed traffic conditions across Greater Sydney for maintenance and project works.
Sydney Harbour Bridge
Up to five lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge deck will close for maintenance and upgrade works from tonight:
- Friday 26 July: 11pm – 8am (up to three lanes)
- Saturday 27 July: 10pm – 8am (up to three lanes)
- Sunday 28 July: 10pm – 8am (up to two lanes)
- Monday 29 July: 10pm – 5am (up to five lanes)
- Tuesday 30 July: 10pm – 5am (up to five lanes)
- Wednesday 31 July: 10pm – 4.30am (five lanes)
- Thursday 1 August: 10.30pm – 4.30am (up to five lanes)
Motorists can use other lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge or drive through the Sydney Harbour Tunnel as an alternative route, while noting tunnel closures below.
Sydney Harbour Tunnel
Works on the Warringah Freeway Upgrade will result in both southbound lanes of the Sydney Harbour Tunnel being closed tonight, Friday July 26, 10.30pm – 6am and on Saturday July 27, 10.30pm – 6am.
Motorists travelling from the Gore Hill Freeway / Warringah Freeway southbound will not be able to access the Sydney Harbour Tunnel southbound. Motorists are advised to use the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Cahill Expressway.
Western Distributor
Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on the Western Distributor from this Sunday for three consecutive nights. On Sunday 28 July, Monday 29 July and Tuesday 30 July, from 9pm – 5am, northbound and southbound Western Distributor lanes from Bathurst Street to Sydney Harbour Bridge will be closed.
Motorists travelling north from Anzac Bridge towards the Sydney Harbour Bridge will be detoured via King Street and Clarence Street. Motorists travelling from City South towards the Sydney Harbour Bridge will be detoured via Day Street, Bathurst Street and Kent Street. Details of the detours are here.
Motorists travelling south from Sydney Harbour Bridge towards Anzac Bridge will be detoured via York Street and Market Street. Details of the detours are here.
M6 Stage 1
Utility and road upgrades will be required on President Avenue in Kogarah between Lachal Avenue and O’Connell Street from 8pm, Friday 26 July until 5am, Monday 29 July.
Major traffic changes will be in place along President Avenue. Detours will be in place, and motorists should expect traffic delays and allow extra time. However, residential access will be maintained. Check livetraffic.com for traffic updates.
M7
Road users are advised of changed traffic conditions on the M7 Motorway in Cecil Hills across several weekends in July and August.
The M7 Motorway off-ramp to Elizabeth Drive, Cecil Hills, will be closed for bridge foundation works. Ramp closures will take place between 8pm Friday evening and 5am Monday morning over the following weekends:
- Tonight, Friday 26 July to Monday 29 July
- Friday 2 August to Monday 5 August
- Friday 9 August to Monday 12 August
Detours will be via The Horsley Drive, Wallgrove Road and the M7 Motorway.

Essential trackwork
This weekend, essential trackwork on the T1 North Shore Line will see buses replace trains between Wynyard and Gordon from 10.30pm on Friday before extending to Hornsby on Saturday and Sunday. City Circle trains run in one direction only, first Central, then Museum.
On the T2 Inner West Line on Saturday, buses will replace trains between Ashfield and Central from 6.30am to 10.30am. On Sunday, from 5.20am to 9.40am, buses will replace trains on the T2 Leppington and T5 Cumberland Lines. And on the Southern Highlands Line, from 4.40am to 4pm on Saturday, buses replace trains between Goulburn, Moss Vale and Campbelltown.
Services may run to a changed stopping pattern or timetable so passengers should plan ahead and check for updates on transportnsw.info, Trip Planner or their travel apps.

Events
Around 7,000 participants will be taking part in the Sydney Harbour 10k & 5k funruns on Sunday starting from George Street in The Rocks and running around the Harbour foreshore.
For participants, public transport is the best way to get to the event as the Circular Quay transport hub is within short walking distance of the start line. Those travelling from the North Shore should be aware that planned weekend trackwork is taking place with buses replacing trains between Hornsby and Wynyard.
Road closures will be in place around the Sydney CBD, The Rocks, Dawes Point, Millers Point, Barangaroo, King Street Wharf and Pyrmont. Visit livetraffic.com for more road closure details and access restrictions.
